Dear colleagues,

I am excited to share the news that Brianna Marshall will be the next dean of the W. Frank Steely Library. She has served in the interim dean role since August 2023 (thank you!) and prior to that she served as Senior Associate Dean of the library.  Before joining our university, she served as director of research services at the Orbach Library at the University of California, Riverside, and as the digital curation coordinator at the University of Wisconsin.

Brianna will officially begin her dean position on July 1. I look forward to our continued partnership where Brianna leads her dedicated team with creativity and with collaboration across campus.

I want to share my gratitude to Michael Providenti and Judy Daar for their leadership on the search committee, to the entire search committee for their careful review work, and to Rita Jones for her administrative support. I thank all the library faculty and staff who were engaged in the entire process from filling out surveys to attending library meetings and candidate sessions.  Because of the centrality of the library to our academic mission, I am especially appreciative of the broader campus for your involvement in the process as well.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Diana McGill, Ph.D.

Provost and Executive Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs
